    Summit the highest peak of the Stok range on this 9-day trek to the peak of Mt. Stok Kangri. A difficult trek in Ladakh, this adventure-packed, challenging trek will lead you over steep inclines that are often swamped with pristine, white snowfields. On summit day, you'll trek under the cover of darkness and encounter a gorgeous sunrise over snow-capped peaks. From the summit, you'll be amply rewarded with clear views of Ladakh's cold desert with tall mountains of the Karakoram and Stok ranges. The Stok Kangri trek is perfect for experienced trekkers seeking a new adventure and thrill.

    Destination

    Mt. Stok Kangri, located in the Hemis National Park, is the highest peak in the Stok range at reaching over 20,100 feet. On clear days, this peak can often be seen towards the south from the Leh city. The trail to reach the peak takes you through Ladakh's classic landscapes, pinkish and barren mountains with layers of snow on the upper hills. This trek is the only one of its kind that can take you to such sky-touching heights without requiring any mountaineering experience. A bucket-list trek for many, this adventure is renowned and well recognized among the Indian trekking community.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the Stok Kangri trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs or tobacco products like cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the Stok Kangri trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 30 days before departure of the Stok Kangri trek: 90% refund.

    For cancellations made between 21-30 days before departure of the Stok Kangri trek: 60% refund.

    For cancellations made between 11-20 days before departure of the Stok Kangri trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 10 days before departure of the Stok Kangri trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The tour operator reserves the right to change the itinerary of the Stok Kangri trek depending upon the weather conditions and other unforeseen factors. Any additional costs due to unforeseen situations will have to be borne by the traveller.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure the maximum safety of travellers as well as staff and will not be held responsible for any accident or mishap during the Stok Kangri trek.

    The Stok Kangri trek requires you to climb for 5-6 hrs per day through difficult and steep inclines which are often covered in snow. Accordingly, it is recommended that only trekkers with prior experience of a high-altitude trek attempt this trek.

    Travellers may take more than the prescribed number of days in the itinerary to complete the trek due to unforeseen circumstances. You're requested to make bookings of your return flight from Leh accordingly.

  • Day 1 of the Stok Kangri trek: Arrival at Leh

    Today, you will arrive in Leh and report to a pre-booked hotel, where you'll meet your fellow trekkers. You'll have a short orientation session with the trek leader. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

    Day 2 of the Stok Kangri trek: Acclimatization at Leh

    The day is reserved for you to acclimatize to the higher altitude of the city. You can spend the day in your hotel at Leh or visit local attractions such as the Leh Palace and the Tsemo Monastery. You'll spend the evening at the local marketplace shopping for any last minute essentials and making final preparations for the Stok Kangri trek. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

    Day 3 of the Stok Kangri trek: Leh to Chang Ma via Stok village

    Today, you will begin the trek with a short drive across the river to the Stok village. You will begin your trek from the village and make way to Chang Ma. The trail leads you alongside a narrow river stream that meanders across pinkish and barren landscapes. Overnight in tents at Chang Ma.

    Day 4 of the Stok Kangri trek: Chang Ma to Mankorma

    Trek from Chang Ma to Mankorma, located at 14,200 feet in the cliff-shaped hills at the base of Stok Kangri. It will be a steep trail, offering you the first taste of exciting challenges that are normally reserved only for high-altitude treks. Overnight in tents at Mankorma.

    Day 5 of the Stok Kangri trek: Mankorma to Base Camp

    On this day, you will trek for the base camp. You will climb a short mountain ridge and ascend to the Stok Kangri base camp. You will cross a few river streams and water pools before reaching the day's destination. In the afternoon, you'll head out for a short acclimatization walk towards Gulab Kangri. In the evening, there will be a briefing session and a medical check-up. Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Day 6 of the Stok Kangri trek: Rest and acclimatization

    Today, you will prepare for tomorrow's summit climb with light training sessions with the trek leader. These sessions will teach you the basic skills required to successfully reach the summit tomorrow. You may spend the rest of your time exploring the area around the base camp. Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Day 7 of the Stok Kangri trek: Summit Stok Kangri

    Finally, the summit day is here. You will head out as early as 1:00 hrs and trek through the darkness to catch a glorious sunrise over the mountains. You will cross a glacier on the way, climbing up steep inclines and mountain ridges. After an 8-hr ascent, you'll reach the peak and spend some time celebrating your achievement. Descend carefully back to the base camp. Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Day 8 of the Stok Kangri trek: Base camp to Leh

    Today, you will return from the base camp to Leh. Tracing the familiar route downhill, you'll bid goodbye to the mountains and reach the village of Stok. Vehicles will be waiting to take you back from Stok to Leh. Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

    Day 9 of the Stok Kangri trek: Depart from Leh

    Check-out from the hotel and proceed to your next destination. Your Stok Kangri trek ends here.

    Today, you will report to the hotel at Leh. Today's package includes dinner only. You can visit any of the local restaurants in Leh to have meals at your own expense. You will spend the night in the hotel.

    Day 2 of the Stok Kangri trek: Acclimatization at Leh

    Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

    After having breakfast, you will head out for your acclimatization hike and explore Leh. Today's meal package includes breakfast and dinner. You can visit any of the local restaurants in Leh to have meals at your own expense. You'll spend the night in the same hotel as yesterday.

    Day 3 of the Stok Kangri trek: Leh to Chang Ma via Stok village

    Overnight in tents at Chang Ma.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will begin your drive for Stok village after a quick breakfast. Packed lunch will be provided to you on the way to Chang Ma. Dinner will be served to you at Chang Ma. For the night, you will be provided with sleeping bags and mattresses at the campsite.

    Day 4 of the Stok Kangri trek: Chang Ma to Mankorma

    Overnight in tents at Mankorma.

    Today, you will begin your day after a quick breakfast and head to Mankorma campsite. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Packed lunch will be served to you on your way to the campsite. Upon reaching the campsite, dinner will be served to you. You'll spend the night in sturdy tents.

    Day 5 of the Stok Kangri trek: Mankorma to Base Camp

    Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will have breakfast, after which you will begin your trek for the base camp. Packed lunch will be served on the trek. Upon reaching the base camp, dinner will be served to you. Your campsite will also be equipped with a common kitchen/dining tent to prepare and serve meals.

    Day 6 of the Stok Kangri trek: Rest and acclimatization

    Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will begin your day with breakfast, after which you will spend your day preparing for tomorrow's summit climb. Lunch will be served to you at noon and dinner in the evening. You will sleep in the early night, as you will be waking up at midnight to head out for the summit trek.

    Day 7 of the Stok Kangri trek: Summit Stok Kangri

    Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Today, you will begin your trek at 1:00 hrs and trek through the night. Packed breakfast and lunch will be served to you during the summit climb. Dinner will be served at the base camp. Your campsite will also be equipped with a common dry-pit style washroom tent.

    Day 8 of the Stok Kangri trek: Base camp to Leh

    Overnight in a hotel at Leh.

    Today, you will begin your trek for Leh after a quick breakfast. You will be served packed lunch on the way, and dinner will be served at the hotel. You will spend the night at hotel.

    Day 9 of the Stok Kangri trek: Depart from Leh

    Your trip ends in by morning.

    Today, you will get breakfast at the hotel, after which you can head back to the airport. Your Stok Kangri trek ends today.
