  • Trip introduction

    This 4-day trek to the Chandrakhani Pass is best suited for beginners. It is one of the most popular treks near Kullu and Manali, as it is not as challenging as some other treks. During the trip, you spend the first day acclimatizing at the base camp and learning some basics. On the second day, you trek to Naya Tapru where you spend the night in alpine tents under the stars. On the third day, you trek to the Chandrakhani Pass and spend the night in tents at Chaklani. On the fourth day, you descend back to the base camp. This trek is a beautiful experience that gives you a perfect glimpse of the wonderful natural landscape of Himachal Pradesh.

    Located in Kullu Valley, the Chandrakhani Pass is famous not only for being an easy trek for beginners but also for its religious importance as it is one of the seats of meditation for Saptarishi Jamdagini. The top of the pass offers a panoramic view of all the famous snow-capped peaks of the Manali Valley which is truly a sight to behold. The trek takes you through dense forests full of pine, fir, oak and chestnut trees and through vast lush meadows of Ghan Kulhadi which is situated in the middle of a dense forest. The trek is perfect for those wanting to explore the natural landscape of the region.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Chandrakhani Pass.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products like cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 20 days before departure date of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: 80% refund.

    For cancellations made 20 days or less before departure date of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The travellers are required to carry a medical and disclaimer certificate signed by registered MBBS doctor.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure maximum safety of travellers and will not be held responsible for any accident, mishap or loss of life or property during the trek to Chandrakhani Pass.

    The tour operator reserves the right to alter or cancel the itinerary of the trek to Chandrakhani Pass due to any unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather or natural calamities. Travellers will bear any costs arising due to such a change in the itinerary.

  • Day 1 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: Reporting to Rumsu base camp

    Today, you will report at the Rumsu base camp by 08:00 hours. There, you will go for an acclimatization walk and spend the afternoon attending an orientation to understand the basics of trekking. Overnight in tents at Rumsu base camp.

    Day 2 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: Rumsu to Naya Tapru

    Today you will head out on a trek to Naya Tapru which is situated at an altitude of 9,186 feet. You will trek through woods and meadows. Overnight in tents at Naya Tapru campsite.

    Day 3 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: Naya Tapru to Chandrakhani Pass to Chaklani

    Post breakfast, you will start your trek to Chandrakhani Pass. The trek has a moderate ascend and takes around 4 hours to reach the pass. Once there, you will spend some time there and start your descend to Chaklani which should take around 2 hours. Overnight in tents at Chaklani campsite. Although, if there is a snow fall then there is a possibility that you will have to camp at Naya Tapru.

    Day 4 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: descend to Rumsu and departure

    Today, you will start your return trek to Rumsu base camp which will take you around 4 hours. Once there, you will receive your certificate at 15:00 hrs and you can depart at 16:00 hrs. Your trip ends today.

  • Day 1 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: Reporting to Rumsu base camp

    Overnight in tents at Rumsu basecamp.

    You will report to the Rumsu base camp by 08:00 hrs, where you will be served breakfast. Post which you will go for an acclimitazation walk. You will receive lunch at 13:00 hrs. Dinner will be served in the late evening after the ice-breaking session. You will be issued sleeping bags and mattresses for the night.

    Day 2 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: Rumsu to Naya Tapru

    Overnight in tents at Naya Tapru.

    You begin your day with a quick breakfast, after which you will begin your trek to Naya Tapru. Packed lunch will be served to you at Ghan Kulhadi. You will have dinner upon reaching the Naya Tapru campsite. You will be issued sleeping bags and mattresses for the night.

    Day 3 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: Naya Tapru to Chandrakhani Pass to Chaklani

    Overnight in tents at Chaklani.

    You will begin your day early with a quick breakfast, and at 06:00 hrs you will set out for the Chandrakhani Pass. You will have packed lunch on the trek itself. Dinner will be served to you upon reaching the Chaklani campsite. Sleeping bags and mattresses will be osued to you for the night.

    Day 4 of the Chandrakhani Pass trek: descend to Rumsu and departure

    Your trip ends by early evening.

    You will begin your day with breakfast and then head out for the Rumsu base camp. You will have your lunch on the trek itself. Your trip ends at 16:00 hrs.
