Day 1 of the Everest Base camp trek: Arrive in Kathmandu
Arrive at the Kathmandu International Airport, where you'll be picked up by a representative of the tour operator and escorted to a hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Venture in the city to explore the local marketplace or visit restaurants to taste the traditional cuisine. Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.
Day 2 of the Everest Base camp trek: Kathmandu to Phakding
Wake up, bright and early, and travel to the airport. You'll board a domestic flight to Lukla, with beautiful birds eye views of the mountains. Once you reach Lukla, you'll begin the trek to Phakding. Walking through forests of oak and pine, you'll trek past pleasant views of the terrain. The chirping of alpine birds will accompany you throughout the trek, even as you reach Phakding by late afternoon. Overnight in a tea-house at Phakding.
Day 3 of the Everest Base camp trek: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
Today's journey will take you to the gateway town of Namche Bazaar. Entering the Sagarmatha National Park, you'll breath in the crispy mountain air and take the path parallel to the Dudhkoshi River. As you cross suspension bridges over the river, you'll catch your first glimpse of the big mountain, the Everest. You'll encounter an especially tedious, uphill climb in the final stretch of the trail, until you reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight in a tea-house at Namche Bazaar.
Day 4 of the Everest Base camp trek: Day at Namche Bazaar
The day is reserved for you to rest and acclimatize to Namche's high altitude. Explore the sights and sounds of the town by taking a short hike to visit the Everest View Hotel, the highest hotel in the world. Panoramic views of the peaks like Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and others will dominate the distant horizon. In the evening, relax at one of the cosy cafes or pubs of Namche with your fellow trekkers. Overnight in a tea-house at Namche Bazaar.
Day 5 of the Everest Base camp trek: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
Begin your day with a fairly gentle trek towards Tengboche. Forests painted in all shades of green and brown, with pines and magnolia, pepper your trail to Tengboche. Ever spectacular views of higher mountain peaks like Nuptse and Thamserku will fade in and out of view along the trail. En route, you'll visit the 300-year old monastery of Tengboche, where Everest climber Tenzing Norway once lived as a monk. Overnight in a tea-house at Tengboche.
Day 6 of the Everest Base camp trek: Tengboche to Dingboche
Today's trek will take you to the village of Dingboche. The initial stretch of the trail takes you downhill via Debouche and Pangboche. As the route resumes a steady march uphill, the dense greenery begins thinning into sparse vegetation. Giant boulders, patches of snow and barren slopes begin dominating the view. Overnight in a tea-house at Dingboche.
Day 7 of the Everest Base camp trek: Day at Dingboche
The day is reserved for you to rest and acclimatize to Dingboche's high altitude. Explore the sights and sounds of the region by taking a short hike to the nearby Pangboche valley. Along the route, you can spot several yaks plying on the trail and stop to chat with the Sherpa natives that herd the yaks. Return back to Dingboche by late afternoon. Overnight in a tea-house at Dingboche.
Day 8 of the Everest Base camp trek: Dingboche to Lobuche
The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche is a straight, easy trail through open lands. Alongside small river streams and increasingly large patches of ice, you'll grab beautiful views of higher peaks and reach Lobuche. En route, stop to pay respect at the memorials erected in tribute of the mountaineers who have perished in their quest to summit Mt. Everest. Overnight in tea-house at Lobuche.
Day 9 of the Everest Base camp trek: Lobuche to Gorakshep via EBC
One of the longest stretches of the trek, today's itinerary will take you to the Everest Base Camp. Trekking over the rocky trail, you'll make your way parallel to the Khumbu glacier. Negotiating your way around rocks and boulders, you'll reach the site of the Everest Base Camp. After half an hour spent to admire the views and breath in the moment, you'll turn around and trek to the nearby lodges of Gorakshep. Overnight in a tea-house at Gorakshep.
Day 10 of the Everest Base camp trek: Gorakshep to Pheriche via Kala Patthar
Begin trekking in the moonlight, as early as 04:00 hrs, and take the strenuous, uphill route up the Kala Patthar mountain. You'll arrive at a view point on the mountain, a short distance away from the summit, just in time for a glorious sun rise. You'll get panoramic views of entire Himalayan range. Descend back to Gorakshep and continue onward to the village of Pheriche. Overnight in a tea-house at Pheriche.
Day 11 of the Everest Base camp trek: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
Make your way down to Namche Bazaar. A long but easy trek, you'll leave Mt. Everest behind and begin the descent. You'll retrace your steps over the familiar route and reach Namche by late afternoon. Overnight in a tea-house at Namche Bazaar.
Day 12 of the Everest Base camp trek: Namche Bazaar to Lukla
Continue descending and retrace your steps back from Namche to Lukla. Passing the villages of Phakding and Monjo, you'll exit the Sagarmatha National Park and conclude the trek at Lukla. Overnight in a tea-house at Lukla.
Day 13 of the Everest Base camp trek: Lukla to Kathmandu
Early in the morning, you'll board a domestic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. You'll spend the rest of the day at leisure. Shop for souvenirs and gifts at the local marketplace or visit some of the heritage monuments of Kathmandu. Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.
Day 14 of the Everest Base camp trek: Depart from Kathmandu
Depending on your flight timings, you'll take an airport transfer back to the airport and proceed to your next destination. Your trip ends here.
