    The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the most rewarding treks in the Annapurna Conservation Area. On a short 8-day itinerary, you'll reach the summit of Poon Hill, where you'll get striking, sunrise views of over fifteen peaks in the Annapurna mountain range. En route to Poon Hill, you'll pass several small villages like Ulleri and Ghadruk, home to the ethnic communities of Pun and Gurung natives. Apart from showcasing the unique lifestyle and culture of the locals, these villages are located to give you fantastic views of famous Himalayan peaks such as the Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri.

    NOTE: A minimum of two travellers are required to book this Ghorepani Poon Hill trek.

    Destination

    The village of Ghorepani is an important rest stop linking several other villages in the Annapurna Conservation Area. Trekking expeditions to Annapurna often camp at the village for the night. The village is also located at the base of Poon Hill, a 10,500-foot peak that is also known as the 'Photographer's Paradise', with panoramic views of the snow-capped Annapurna range from the summit. One of the most popular regional treks, the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek gives you the taste of the Annapurna circuit on a short and relatively easy itinerary.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to carry a copy of their travel insurance (if obtained), a scanned copy of their passport and 3 passport-sized photos. These documents are required to obtain the necessary permits.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Travellers are required to adhere to instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is prohibited during the trek, consumption of tobacco products and cigarettes is not recommended either.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 60 days before departure of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek: 100% refund.

    For cancellations made 60-30 days before departure of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made 29-14 days before departure of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek: 40% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 14 days before departure of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek: No refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers are encouraged to obtain adventure travel insurance that covers emergency rescue and evacuation. However, such insurance is not mandatory.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this trip due to bad weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances to ensure maximum safety of travellers and staff. Travellers are required to bear any additional costs arising due to such a change in itinerary.

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trek to Ghorepani and Poon Hill.

  • Day 1 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Arrive at Kathmandu

    Land at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and get transferred to a pre-arranged hotel in the city. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in a hotel at Kathmandu.

    Day 2 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Kathmandu to Pokhara

    Board a tourist bus from the Kathmandu bus station and travel to Pokhara. This scenic, 6-hr drive will take you across a number of small Sherpa villages. Views of several mountains on the horizon will accompany you for most of the journey. At Pokhara, you can do any last minute shopping for the trek or visit the Phewa Lake. Overnight in a hotel at Pokhara.

    Day 3 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga

    Board a private car from Pokhara and travel to the small village of Nayapul, located 2-hr drive away from Pokhara. You'll travel closer to the mountains and arrive at the doorstep of the Annapurna Conservation Area. Here, you'll take a short break to rest and begin the trek to Tikhedhunga. En route, you'll pass several vantage points with great views of Annapurna South, Machhapucchre and Himachuli mountain peaks. Overnight in a local teahouse at Tikhedhunga.

    Day 4 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

    Trek over a terraced path from Tikhedhunga and pass through patches of thick forests on your way to Ghorepani. En route, you'll encounter several traditional settlements, like those of Ulleri and Banthanti, where the ethnic Pun natives reside. From Ghorepani, a clear, cloudless day brings views of large sections of the Annapurna mountain range. Overnight in a local teahouse at Ghorepani.

    Day 5 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Ghorepani to Tadapani via Poon Hill

    Early in the morning, you'll begin a short, uphill hike to the peak of Poon Hill. From the summit, you'll catch sunrise views of the Annapurna mountain range. Spend some time at Poon Hill and get panoramic view of more than fifteen peaks in the Annapurna range, including Dhaulagiri. Descend back to Ghorepani, and resume trekking to Tadapani. Overnight in a local teahouse at Tadapani.

    Day 6 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Tadapani to Ghandruk

    Take on the easiest section of the trek and descend to the small village of Ghandruk. You'll rapidly lose altitude and approach flatter terrain through a dense cover of forest. At Ghandruk, you can explore the village, primarily settled by the ethnic Gurung natives, and visit the local monastery and museum. Overnight in a local teahouse at Gandruk.

    Day 7 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Ghandruk to Pokhara

    Retrace your steps on a familiar route to Nayapul. Here, vehicles will be waiting to take you back to Pokhara. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. You can visit the local marketplace at the city to shop for souvenirs and gifts or relax in your hotel. Overnight in a hotel at Pokhara.

    Day 8 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Board a tourist bus from the Pokhara bus station travel to Kathmandu. In the evening, you'll visit a popular restaurant in Nepal to taste authentic Nepali cuisine to some ethnic dance and cultural music. Overnight in a hotel room at Kathmandu.

    Day 9 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Depart from Kathmandu

    Transfer to the Tribhuvan International Airport and depart for your next destination. Your trip ends here.

    Travel to Pokhara via a scenic, 6-hr journey in a tourist bus. You'll be accommodated in a hotel at Pokhara on twin-sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast only. You can visit any of the restaurants in Pokhara to have additional meals at your own expense.

    Day 3 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga

    Overnight in a teahouse at Tikhedhunga

    Take a short drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga. You'll be accommodated in a basic teahouse at Tikhedhunga, with common washrooms. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 4 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

    Overnight in a tea house at Ghorepani

    Climb uphill and trek to your first destination of Ghorepani. You'll be accommodated in a basic teahouse at Ghorepani, with common washrooms. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 5 of Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Ghorepani to Tadapani via Poon Hill

    Overnight in a teahouse at Tadapani

    Trek to the Poon Hill summit to catch spectacular sunrise views and descend to Tadapani. You'll be accommodated in a basic teahouse at Tadapani, with common washrooms. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
