From grasslands to snowy patches, raging rivers to high rocky mountains, it has it all! Apart from the thrill of trekking, you'll also experience the more peaceful joys of Himalayan trekking. You'll see flocks of sheep grazing on the green slopes. You'll visit Chandratal, a serene blue lake in the shape of a moon.     Destination

    At a soaring height of 14,100 feet, the Hampta Pass trek is one of the best treks in Himachal Pradesh, because it gives trekkers a chance to explore many different locations. Starting from the green orchards and valleys of Manali, this 5 day trek passes through Jobra, Chikha and Balu ka Gheera before reaching the more stark landscape of Hampta Pass. The views become brown and rocky, and you're surrounded by craggy mountains. From here, you'll trek onwards through Sia Goru, and up to the dazzling blue Chandratal Lake. On your way back, you'll get to go through Batal, Chatru and Rohtang pass, making this trek to Hampta Pass the kind that gives you much more than you asked for!

    Rules on the trip

    Trekkers are expected to maintain cleanliness at the campsites and throughout the Hampta Pass trek trail. Please do not litter around and if possible, collect garbage on the way and dispose it off at proper sites.

    Please do not disturb fellow trekkers while on Hampta Pass trek.

    The trek leader's decision is final during the trek to Hampta Pass.

    There is a strict rule against alcohol and drugs during the Hampta Pass trek. Trekkers will be expected to follow it.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 30 days or more before the departure of the Hampta Pass trek: 90% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    For cancellations made 21-30 days prior to departure of the Hampta Pass trek: 60% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    For cancellations made 20-11 days prior to departure of the Hampta Pass trek: 30% of trek cost will be refunded, minus any transaction charges.

    For cancellations 0-10 days prior to departure of the Hampta Pass trek: No refund.

    No show and changes/cancellation on the Hampta Pass trek due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Any additional costs due to weather/unforeseen situations during the trek to Hampta Pass, will have to be borne by the traveller.

    The team reserves the right to change the plan in case there is danger involved for the group or whenever the trek leader deem it necessary.

    Any changes/cancellation on the Hampta Pass trek due to bad weather or natural calamity will be non-refundable.

    It is recommended that you avoid planning any onward journeys from Manali on the same day as your return. The road journey back from Chandratal is prone to delays, and you might miss your travel bookings.

  • Day 1 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Manali to Chikha

    You'll meet your group and guide at the Manali bus stand, and get your briefing for the journey. You'll be driven to Jobra, from where you begin your Hampta Pass trek. It's an easy trek day today, just 2 hours, and is extremely beautiful. You will pass through meadows, rivers and forests of pine and maple before you get to Chikha. You'll be camping here for the night.

    Day 2 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Trek to Balu ka Gheera

    Today you travel to Balu ka Gheera from Chikha. The trek route is filled with natural delights throughout. This part of the Hampta Pass trek goes through lush greenery, and crossing boulders on rivers and walking by waterfalls. There are some rocky sections that will be fun because they're tricky to navigate. You'll camp at Balu ka Ghera tonight.

    Day 3 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Hampta Pass Day!

    Today's trail is a long one, about 9 hours over 14 kms. You'll have some steep ascents and difficult patches, followed by a sharp descent. You'll get to Hampta Pass and have some time to enjoy the views. After that, you'll trek on to Sia Goru. You'll be camping here for the night.

    Day 4 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Sia Goru to Chandratal Lake

    Today you'll journey from Sia Goru to Chandratal Lake. This journey entails a mix of both trekking and driving. You'll trek to the roadhead of Chatru in Lahaul, and then board the waiting vehicles to Chandratal. The vehicles stop some distance away from the lake, and you'll trek to Chandratal. The lake shines bright blue in the middle of the brown and grey landscape of Lahaul, and is a stunning place. You'll be happy to be camping here for the night.

    Day 5 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Return to Manali

    Today you'll set off back to Manali. You'll trek back to your vehicles, and then begin the drive to Manali. En route, you'll pass through Batal, Chatru, and through Rohtang Pass. You should reach Manali by 17:00 hrs, but try to avoid planning any departures from Manali for the same night. Trip ends in Manali.

    You'll camp in tents on triple sharing basis. You'll be provided with sleeping bags and mats, and cozy tents. Today's package includes lunch and dinner. You can expect tasty and filling vegetarian food, as well as eggs if you want.

    Day 2 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Trek to Balu ka Gheera

    Overnight at Balu ka Gheera

    In the morning you'll have the convenience of toilet tents at your campsite. After a hearty breakfast, you'll begin your trekking for the day. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 3 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Hampta Pass Day!

    Overnight at Sia Goru

    You'll trek to Sia Goru today and camp for the night. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 4 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Sia Goru to Chandratal Lake

    Overnight at Chandratal Lake

    Today you'll trek to Chandratal, and your camp is close by. You'll be staying in triple sharing tents for the night. Today's package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 5 of the Hampta Pass Trek: Return to Manali

    Trip ends before nightfall

    Today you'll trek back to the roadhead, and then begin the drive back to Manali. You should reach by 17:00 hrs, but do plan for delays. Today's package includes breakfast and lunch.
