  • Trip introduction

    The Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek is a moderate trek, suitable for beginners. On this trek, you'll trek to the gorgeous valley of Har Ki Dun and the enchanting lake of Ruinsara which is nestled amidst snow-capped mountains. The trek is a mix of peaceful walks and adventurous ascents, as you trek through dense forests of fir, pine, and rhododendron, of the Govind National Park to reach the two destinations. A part of the trek also follows a river and takes you through lush meadows.

    Destination

    The first destination of the trek is Har Ki Dun, which is called the Valley of Gods, situated deep within the Govind Pashu National Park. It is known for its rich flora and fauna, and the trail is covered in colourful orchids and dozens of wildflowers. The second destination is the Ruinsara Lake, which is a sacred lake located on the other side of Swargarohini Peak as opposed to Har Ki Dun, and is known for its crystal clear water and the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. On this trek, you'll also get to see the Black Peak, which is the highest peak in the Banderpunch Group of mountains.

    Rules on the trip

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader during the trek to Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara lake.

    Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited on the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek: 100% refund.

    For cancellations made 15-30 days prior to the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 15 days prior to the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek: No refund.

    In case of no show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator reserves the right to change the itinerary of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek depending upon the weather conditions and other factors. If extra cost is incurred due to rescheduling, it will be borne by the trekker.

    Please note that sometimes an unforeseen event may force changes in the itinerary of the trek to Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake. In such cases, your trek leader will suggest the best alternative similar to your original itinerary.

    All the arrangements for the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek are pre-planned and prepaid. In case of non-completion of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake trek due to any reason there will not be any refund for any unutilized services. Any extra expense due any alteration has to be paid extra.

  • Day 1 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri

    Today, you'll be picked up at the Dehradun Railway Station at 06:30 hrs, from where you'll be driven to Sankri. It is a long drive through a scenic route, and the final stretch of the road crossed through the Govind Pashu National Park. You'll reach Sankri in the evening. Overnight in tents/homestay at Sankri.

    Day 2 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Drive to Taluka, Trek to Osla

    You'll begin your day with a short, bumpy ride to Taluka where the road ends. From there, you'll begin your trek to Osla. You trek along the banks of the gushing Supin River, under the shade of walnut, pine, and other trees. You'll also be passing some gorgeous little villages on the way before you reach the Osla Village. Overnight in tents at Osla.

    Day 3 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Osla to Har Ki Dun

    Today, you'll trek to Har Ki Dun. The trail has a gradual ascend and passes through gorgeous bushes of flowers like orchids and sunflowers. The trail reaches high above the confluence of the Supin River and the river from Ruinsara Valley. Overnight in tents at Har Ki Dun.

    Day 4 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Explore Har Ki Dun

    Today, you'll spend the day relaxing at Har Ki Dun. If you want, you even explore some trails around the campsite. You can head out to explore the forests of Himalayan birch, or get a closer glimpse of the Swargarohini Peak and Jaundhar glacier, or you can trek to Marinda Tal. Overnight in tents at Har Ki Dun.

    Day 5 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Har Ki Dun to Waterfall

    Today, you'll initially follow the trail back to Osla, and after a kilometer, you'll follow the path on the left which leads to a small bridge . The trail then takes you through dense forests and into the Ruinsara Valley. You'll reach the Waterfall by afternoon. Overnight in tents at the Waterfall.

    Day 6 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Waterfall to Ruinsara Lake

    Today, you'll trek to Ruinsara Lake. On the trek, you'll notice the drastic transformation of the vegetation around you, as pine and fir trees give way to birch and rhododendron. Once you reach the lake, you can spend the day either relaxing on the banks or exploring the surrounding region. Overnight in tents near the Ruinsara Lake.

    Day 7 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Ruinsara Lake to Seema

    Today, you'll start early and retrace your steps back to Seema. It is a long trek, but since it is downhill, it won't be challenging, except for a short ascent that you will come across on the trek. You'll reach Seema by afternoon.

    Day 8 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Trek to Taluka, Drive to Sankri

    Today, you'll trek to Taluka, which is an easy trek through familiar trail. You'll reach Taluka by afternoon, from where you'll board the transport vehicle that will take you to Sankri. It will be a bumpy ride but you'll be rewarded to the gorgeous views of the region. Overnight in tents/homestay at Sankri.

    Day 9 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Drive to Dehradun

    Today is the last day of the trip. You'll begin your drive back to Dehradun in the morning. It is a long drive, but you'll be greeted with gorgeous views, including a glimpse of Tons and Yamuna rivers. You'll reach Dehradun by evening, and bid farewell to your fellow trekkers. Your trip ends here.

    Today, you'll be picked up from Dehradun Railway Station by 06:30 hrs, from where you'll be driven to Sankri. Today's meal package includes dinner only, so remember to carry extra cash for lunch on the way.

    Day 2 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Drive to Taluka, Trek to Osla

    Overnight in tents at Osla.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast will be served to you before you begin your short drive to Takula, packed lunch will be had en route to Osla, and dinner will be served at the Osla campsite.

    Day 3 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Osla to Har Ki Dun

    Overnight in tents at Har Ki Dun.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast will be served to you at Osla before you begin your trek for Har Ki Dun, packed lunch will be served on the trek, and dinner will be served at the Har Ki Dun campsite.

    Day 4 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Explore Har Ki Dun

    Overnight in tents at Har Ki Dun.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Since you'll be spending your day relaxing at Har Ki Dun, all the meals will be served at the campsite itself.

    Day 5 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Har Ki Dun to Waterfall

    Overnight in tents at Waterfall.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast will be served to you at Har Ki Dun before you begin your trek to the Waterfall, packed lunch will be served on the trek, and dinner will be served at the Waterfall.

    Overnight in tents at Ruinsara Lake.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast will be served at the Waterfall before you begin your trek to Ruinsara Lake, packed lunch will be served en route and dinner will be served at the lake. You'll spend the night on the banks of the lake.

    Day 7 of the Har Ki Dun and Ruinsara Lake Trek: Ruinsara Lake to Seema

    Overnight in tents at Seema.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast will be served at the Ruinsara Lake, before you begin your trek to Seema, packed lunch will be served en route, and dinner will be served at Seema.

    Overnight in tents/homestay at Sankri.

    Your trip ends before nightfall.

    Today's meal package only includes breakfast which will be served to you at Sankri. Post breakfast, you'll board the transport vehicle that will take you back to Dehradun. You'll reach Dehradun by evening. Remember to carry extra cash for lunch on the way.
