  • Trip introduction

    Kedarkantha is a gorgeous ridge peak, easily accessible throughout the year. On the Kedarkantha trek, you are treated to the mesmerizing views of various Himalayan peaks like Swargarohini I, II and III, Black Peak, Gangotri and Yamunotri ranges, along with Har Ki Dun and Rupin valleys. The Kedarkantha trek is perfect for beginners as it has an easy grade and offers the perfect experience of trekking in the Himalayas.

    Destination

    The Kedarkantha Peak is located in the Tons River Valley of the Himalayas of Uttarakhand. It sits at an altitude of 12,500 ft. above sea level, within the Govind National Park. The trek lets you explore the gorgeous flora and fauna of the national park as you trek through dense forests of pine and oak, along with showcasing a range of Himalayan peaks and valleys.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to instructions of the trek leader during the trek to Kedarkantha.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the trip.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made on or more than 24 days before departure of the Kedarkantha trek: 95% refund.

    For cancellations made between 14-23 days before departure of the Kedarkantha trek: 70% refund.

    For cancellations made between 8-13 days before departure of the Kedarkantha trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 8 days before departure of the Kedarkantha trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    All refund amounts will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the trek to Kedarkantha to ensure maximum safety for travellers as well as staff.

    Travellers will be required bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.

  • Day 1 of the Kedarkantha trek: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri

    Arrive at the Dehradun Railway Station in the morning where you'll meet your trek leader. You'll then begin your drive to Sankri. The drive will take around 8 hours and en route, you'll cross villages like Mussoorie, Nowgaon, Purola and Mori. The drive through the dense forests of pine will end in the evening at Sankri. Overnight in a guesthouse at Sankri.

    Day 2 of the Kedarkantha trek: Trek from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab

    Today is the first day of your trek as you make your way to Juda Ka Talab. The trail runs through pine and maple forests, and crosses various villages until you reach a rigde. From there, the trail widens until you reach the small lake of Juda Ka Talab. Overnight in tents at Juda Ka Talab.

    Day 3 of the Kedarkantha trek: Trek from Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp

    Today, you'll trek to the Kedarkantha Base Camp. The trail will run deeper into the pine forests until you reach a meadow. Post the meadow, you'll gradually ascand 1000 feet until you reach the base camp. You'll enjoy gorgeous views of the Himalayan mountains from the base camp. Overnight in tents at Kedarkantha Base Camp.

    Day 4 of the Kedarkantha trek: Trek to Kedarkantha Summit and then to Hargaon

    Today is finally the day you'll trek to the Kedarkantha summit. You'll reach the summit in a couple of hours, and from there, you'll enjoy a 360-degree view of the Himalayan peaks. You'll see Chaainsheel Pass, Kailash range, and the valley of Har Ki Dun. You'll then hike back to the base camp and begin your trek towards Hargaon. Overnight in tents at Hargaon.

    Day 5 of the Kedarkantha trek: Trek from Hargaon to Sankri

    Today, you'll retrace your steps back to Sankri. It is a short trek and you'll spend the rest of the day exploring the gorgeous village. The pahadi village is known for its hospitality. Overnight in a guesthouse at Sankri.

    Day 6 of the Kedarkantha trek: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun

    You'll wake up to a hot breakfast, after which you'll get on the bus to Dehradun. It is an eight hour dirve, through pine forests. You'll reach there by evening. The trip ends here.

    Overnight in a guesthouse at Sankri.

    You'll be picked up from Dehradun in the morning and driven to Sankri. Today's meal package only includes dinner at Sankri. The vehicle will halt at a restaurant en route where you can have lunch on your own expense.

    Overnight in tents at Juda Ka Talab.
