  • Trip introduction

    Summit Coorg's third highest peak at 5400 feet on this trek to Kotte Betta. It is an easy trek suitable for beginner trekkers, and it is for those who want to explore the nature and culture of Coorg. The trail to the top of Kotte Betta goes through dense forest and few patches of rocky terrain, and through coffee plantations. You will also cross many small streams, and you will get to see the thick green wilderness of Mandalpatti. You will also get to explore the lifestyle and culture of Hattihole, and visit the serene Krishna Raja Sagara backwaters.

    Kotte Betta is the third highest peak in Coorg, after Tadiandamol and Brahmagiri. It is located at an elevation of 5400 feet, in the Hattihole region which lies between Somvarpet and Madikeri. On this trek, you will get to explore the lush greenery of Coorg and the rich biodiversity that the region has to offer.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to instructions of the trek leader during the Kotte Betta trek.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Consumption of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products and cigarettes is strictly prohibited during the Kotte Betta trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 7 day before the start of the Kotte Betta trek: 100% refund.

    For cancellations made 3-6 days before the start of the Kotte Betta trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 2 days before the start of the Kotte Betta trek: No refund.

    In case of no show: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers can choose from 3 pick-up and drop-off points: Swad E Punjab in HSR Layout, New Shanti Sagar Hotel in Domlur, and St. Marks Cathedral in Ashok Nagar.

    The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of the Kotte Betta trek to maximize the safety of travellers as well as staff.

    Travellers will be required to bear any additional costs arising due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather, road blocks etc.

  • Day 1 of the Kotte Betta trek: Depart from Bangalore

    Today, you will report at the pick-up point in Bangalore at 22:15 hrs, from where you will be driven to Hattihole in a private shared vehicle. During the transit, you will be briefed about the trek and aquainted with your fellow travellers. Overnight in the transit vehicle.

    Note: The traveler is advised to have a light dinner before boarding the transit vehicle.

    Day 2 of the Kotte Betta trek: Trek to the Kotte Betta peak

    You will reach homestay early in the morning, where you will check in and then you will begin a short drive to the Kotte Betta. After a few kms, you'll deboard the vehicle and begin your trek. You will stop by the Shiva Temple which is at the top of the mountain. The trek is moderately steep, and goes through dense forests and patches of rocky trails. You will then decent back to the homestay. Overnight at the homestay.

    Day 3 of the Kotte Betta trek: Return to Bangalore via backwaters

    Today, you will explore the village and its culture. After that, you will then begin your drive to Krishna Raja Sagar backwaters. After spending some there, you will begin your drive to Bangalore. You will reach Bangalore by 21:00 hrs. Your trip ends here.

    Day 3 of the Kotte Betta trek: Return to Bangalore via backwaters

    Your journey ends before nightfall.

    Today, only breakfast will be served at the homestay before you begin your drive to Bangalore. You will halt at a road-side restaurant for lunch on the way to Bangalore; lunch will be on your expense.
