  • Trip introduction

    This trek in Kullu is an moderately easy adventure that starts from Jalori Pass and takes you up to the shimmering Serolsar Lake and to Lambri, a quiet destination with the best views of the sprawling Great Himalayan National Park. From here, you'll get unprecedented views of all the famous Himalayan ranges, especially the Dhauladhar, Kinnaur, and Pir Panjal Ranges.

    Himachal Pradesh has some of the most trekker-friendly landscape, and you'll be able to explore it completely with this relaxed itinerary. You'll spend the day exploring the friendly slopes of Kullu, seeing herds of sheep and goats, and meet local shepherds. As evening falls, your tents will be set up and you'll enjoy a campfire and the cool night air, before retiring to your tents for a peaceful night.

    IMPORTANT: Your trek begins at around 13:00 hrs from Jalori Pass. If you're staying in Manali, you have a 4 hour road trip to Jalori Pass. It is advised that you stay near Jalori Pass the previous day, in order to avoid missing the departure time. Accommodation in Jalori Pass will be at your own expense.

    NOTE: This is not a fixed departure so you need a minimum of 4 travellers to book this trek.

    Destination

    You'll be trekking through some of the most scenic sections of Kullu on this trek, and will have plenty of opportunities for photographs. You'll be trekking across green slopes, past shimmering lakes, over meadows filled with sweet grass, and through fragrant pine forests. En route, you'll stop to admire ancient wooden temples, meet friendly locals, see quaint little homesteads, and get a taste of Himachali life.

    The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) is a World Heritage Site, and one of India's national parks. It covers over 700 sq kms and has a buffer eco zone of about 200 sq kms. It is filled with breathtaking landscapes, plants and herbs that are used in ayurveda, and beautiful flora and fauna. Trekking through the GHNP takes you past quaint villages, gently rolling slopes, craggy peaks, and sparkling rivers. It's the perfect getaway for trekkers and nature lovers looking to get lost in the mountains.

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader.

    Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited during the trek.

    While on the Kullu trek, participants must follow a proper waste disposal system.

    Cancellation policy

    For all cancellations of the Lambri trek: You will receive a refund of the trip cost minus any non-refundable amounts already spent on hotels, staff, food, transport, administration fees, and taxes.

    The operator and its representatives/subcontractors are released from any liability or claim with respect to any bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, property loss, or property damage that may result from the trekking activity. A release of liability form will have to be signed by you at your arrival.

  • Day 1 of the Lambri trek: Jalori Pass to Serolsar Lake

    The day starts off late, just before lunch. You'll set off from Jalori Pass towards Serolsar Lake, stopping en route to eat a packed lunch. The trail winds lazily through an oak forest, leading you to the lake. It's a smooth path that will give you a chance to warm up your trekking muscles. By early evening, you'll be done with your trekking for the day. Your campsite will be set up by the lake or in the meadow nearby. It's an easy evening of watching the sun set and chatting with your group, and the campfire will be lit as it grows dark. Enjoy a delicious hot meal, and retire to your tents for the night.

    Day 2 of the Lambri trek: Serolsar Lake to Shepherd's hut

    You'll start the day with a big breakfast and then set off on your day's adventures. The route today leads upwards to a ridge, and is just steep enough to slow you down, but not terribly challenging. You'll start seeing spectacular views as you climb, and will be pleasantly surprised by the downhill slope at the end of today's trek. This leads you to an open meadow with a small shepherd hut. You'll be camping here tonight.

    Day 3 of the Lambri trek: Trek to Lambri and Chanan Thach

    You'll wake to a big breakfast, and set off towards Lambri today. As you climb beyond the tree line, you'll be able to see the peaks of mighty Himalayan giants like Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, Indrasan etc. Lambri is considered sacred, so just before you reach the top, you'll take your shoes off and trek barefoot on the cool grass. You'll find a wooden temple at the top, and will spend some time here before descending to Chanan Thach, an open meadow where you'll spend your last night for the Kullu trek.

    Day 4 of the Lambri trek: Chanan Thach to Bihar village

    It's your last day of the Kullu trek today, and you'll be descending to a small village called Bihar. You'll be returning to below the tree line today, so you'll pass through thickly forested slopes filled with the sound of wild birds. You'll be dropped off in the village of Bihar. Trip ends here. You'll be about 2 hours by road from Kullu, and about 3 hours from Manali.

  • Day 1 of the Lambri trek: Jalori Pass to Serolsar Lake

    Overnight in tents.

    Your first night of camping is near Serolsar Lake. You'll be provided with tunnel-shaped tents with two rooms and a porch to store equipment, as well as clean sleeping bags with liners, pillows, and an air mattress. Today's package includes a delicious packed lunch of parathas, juice, sweets, and a fruit. For snacks enjoy tea, coffee and soup. For dinner, you'll be given one veg and one non veg item, apart from dal, rice, salad, roti and paneer.

    Day 2 of the Lambri trek: Serolsar Lake to Shepherd's hut

    Overnight in tents.

    You'll eat a hearty breakfast of eggs, cereals, bread, butter, and jam and honey. After a fun day of trekking, you'll end at your campsite, gathered around a blazing campfire. For dinner, you'll eat a delicious vegetarian meal followed by dessert. Then it's time to retire to your tent for the night.

    Day 3 of the Lambri trek: Trek to Lambri and Chanan Thach

    Overnight in tents.

    It's your last night of camping on the Kullu trek, and you'll be staying at Chanan Thach. You can spend the evening enjoying the cool mountain air and the warmth of the bonfire, before eating a big dinner. After that, you'll head to your tent for the night.

    Day 4 of the Lambri trek: Chanan Thach to Bihar village

    Trip ends by evening.

    Today you'll set off the last stretch of the trek and will eat a packed lunch en route. Shortly after that, you'll end at a small village called Bihar. The trip ends here, leaving you to proceed to your next destination. From here, you'll be about 2 hours from Kullu or 3 hours from Manali.
