    If you want to pave your way in the adventure sport of scuba diving, the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most comprehensive and popular scuba diving course is the way to go. This 3-day course takes you 60 feet deep under the water with 4 open water dives of 40-45 mins each. Before these dives, you'll work with a certified dive instructor to learn the essential skills of diving during classroom sessions and swimming pool practice. By the end, you'll have earned the PADI Open Water Diver certification.

    Destination

    The largest of the three Gili islands of Bali, the Gili Trawangan island is an idyllic, tropical paradise with world class beaches and green forests covering most of the island. Located just a few minutes away from a range of unique dive spots, the island has become a hotspot for recreational and professional scuba diving. Divers to these spots can expect to see moray eels, lobsters, stingrays and even white-tip reef sharks, among many other species.

    Some of the most popular dive spots around the island include the Halik Reef, a colourful and hard coral reef with drummers and rainbow runners, the Turtle Heaven, named after the turtles that swim near the central pinnacle, the Biorocks, an artificial reef created to promote sustainable diving, and the Mirkos Reef, a ridge with table corals full of seahorses and scorpionfish.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to follow all instructions of the dive instructor during the PADI Open Water Diver course in Bali.

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the course.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing general disturbance.

    Please allow 12 hours between the end of your diving session and your return flight to allow your body to recover.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 30 days or more before departure of the PADI Open Water Diver course in Bali: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 30 days before departure of the PADI Open Water Diver course in Bali: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    Travellers are required to have prior knowledge of swimming. Before the course begins, you'll be required to pass a test that will include swimming for about 600 feet and floating in open water for about 10 minutes.

    After confirmation of the booking, travellers will receive PADI e-learning material that can be used to get a head start on the theory section of the course.

    Travellers must agree to discontinue diving if respiratory congestion or a head cold or any other medical condition occurs before or during the course.

    Travellers are required to complete a medical checklist before beginning the scuba course in Bali. Divers suffering from asthma, heart conditions, diabetes and other pre-existing medical conditions cannot enrol without written clearance from a doctor.

    The tour operator reserves the right to change or cancel the itinerary of this PADI Open Water Diver course in Bali due to bad weather conditions to ensure maximum safety of divers and staff.

  • Day 1 of the PADI OWD course: 1 open water dive

    Arrive at the dive centre by early morning. You'll meet your dive instructor and begin the course with classroom sessions on the first two modules of theory. This is followed by training sessions in the swimming pool that'll teach you the basics of scuba like how to set up your own dive equipment. Break for lunch.

    In the afternoon, you'll head out for your first open water dive. You'll swim down 40 feet under the sea, practicing essential skills under the guidance of your dive instructor. Return to the dive centre by evening and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

    Day 2 of the PADI OWD course: 1 open water dive

    Arrive at the dive centre by early morning. You'll complete the remaining three modules of theory during classroom sessions, before resuming the training in the dive centre's swimming pool. Apart from practicing essential skills, you'll also be required to pass the swim test requiring you to swim for 600 feet and float on water for 10 minutes. Break for lunch.

    In the afternoon, you'll head out for your second open water dive. You'll be more confident on your second dive, allowing you to explore the corals, swim deeper underwater and enjoy yourself. Return to the dive centre by evening and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

    Day 3 of the PADI OWD course: 2 open water dives

    Arrive at the dive centre by early morning. You'll directly head out into the Bali Sea for your third open water dive. Practice and perfect essential diving skills with your dive instructor and relax on the boat. You'll return to the island for lunch.

    In the afternoon, you'll head out for your fourth open water dive. During the last dive of the course, you can perfect your skills, take up techniques that you feel are difficult and swim down to a maximum depth of 60 feet. Return to the dive centre, where you'll have a short exam and complete the paperwork for your certification. Your trip ends here.
