  • Trip introduction

    This 6-day trek to Satopanth Lake begins from the holy town of Badrinath, at a height of 10,800 ft. You will start by trailing alongside Alaknanda River, then proceed to hike through the lush meadows of Chakrateertha and eventually climb up the huge boulders to reach Satopanth Tal. Throughout the trek, you will be surrounded by the towering peaks of Neelkanth, Balakun and Satopanth. You will see the magnificent confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi River, visit the mysterious Vasundhara Fallsa and camp amidst lush meadows on this trek to Satopanth Tal.

    Destination

    Satopanth is a glacial lake located at an altitude of 14,400 feet, in the midst of snowy peaks in Uttarakhand. The lake is surrounded by snow-clad peaks of Neelkanth, Balakun and Satopanth. The waters of Satopanth lake is held by vast boulders and lateral moraines of Alkapuri Glacier. You will see many waterfalls, including Vasundhara Falls, and flourishing Alpine meadows along the way to Satopanth Tal. Satopanth Tal is also home to a few exotic birds who keep the lake clean throughout the year.

    You will be staying in comfortable tents at idyllic campsites on this trek to Satopanth Tal.

    Rules on the trip

    Consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited during the trip. Consumption of cigarettes and other tobacco products is not recommended.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing any general disturbance.

    Travellers are required to follow instructions of the trek leader during Satopanth Tal Trek.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made 30 days or more before departure of Satopanth Tal Trek: 100% refund.

    For cancellations made 15-29 days before departure of Satopanth Tal Trek: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 15 days before departure of Satopanth Tal Trek: no refund.

    In case of no show: no refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during Satopanth Tal trek.

    The tour operator reserves the right to cancel or alter the itinerary of Satopanth Tal trek depending upon the weather conditions and other factors. If extra costs are incurred due to changes in the itinerary, they will be borne by the traveller.

  • Day 1 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Dehradun to Badrinath

    Your drive to Badrinath starts early morning from Dehradun. On the way, you will see the confluence of two differently colored rivers, Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, which produces the holy Ganga River. You'll reach Badrinath by evening and spend the night in a guesthouse.

    Day 2 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Badrinath to Vasundhara Falls Camp

    Visit Badrinath Temple in the morning. After breakfast, you'll go on a short drive to Mana village. Your trek to Vasundhara Falls begins from here. You will approach the falls via Bheem bridge, a boulder bridge over Saraswati River. After trekking for the next 5 km, you will reach the mysterious Vasundhara Falls, where all the water turns into vapour and diffuses into the atmosphere before touching the ground.

    Day 3 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Vasundhara Falls to Chakrateerth Meadow

    After breakfast, start hiking towards Laxmi Van, a beautiful pasture grazed by goats and sheep. Laxmi Van has a few caves which are home to local Gujjars and their animals. Post lunch, start trekking to Chakrateertha meadow, a sublime spot for camping, surrounded by lush meadows and lofty mountains. If you're lucky, on a silent night, you may hear the thunderous sound of glacial ice breaking.

    Day 4 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Chakrateerth Meadow to Satopanth Lake to Laxmi Van

    Today's trek to Satopanth lake is strenuous. The trail is entirely marked by glacial debris. After climbing up huge boulders and stones, you'll be rewarded by magnificent views of Satopanth Lake. The lake is amidst the tall Himalayan mountains and the banks of the lake are adorned by many beautiful Lotus flowers. After spending some time by the lake, you'll descend to your campsite in Laxmi Van.

    Day 5 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Laxmi Van to Badrinath

    Retrace your steps to Mana village. You'll then go on a short drive to Badrinath. You can explore the Temple and nearby areas of Badrinath. Spend the night at your hotel in Badrinath.

    Day 6 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Badrinath to Rishikesh

    Your drive back to Dehradun starts early morning. You will take the same route via Rudraprayag and Devprayag to reach Dehradun. The trekking trip to Satopanth Tal ends on your arrival in Dehradun by evening.

    Overnight at a hotel in Badrinath.

    Trek to Mana village and drive to Badrinath. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 6 of the Satopanth Tal Trek: Badrinath to Rishikesh
