    Discover Spiti, the valley of fascinating landscapes, on this 7-day road trip across Spiti Valley. Starting from Shimla, you will be driven along the Hindustan-Tibet highway. Driving over the hairpin curved roads with steep drops on one side, you will enter Spiti from Nako village. Explore ancient monasteries, ride a Yak, live in authentic homestays and tour Kaza to visit Komic, one of Asia's highest village, and Hikkim, world's highest post office. You will also visit the famous Ki monastery and the picturesque Kibber village in this Spiti road trip.

    The cost displayed is for a group of six people in one Innova. The cost is variable and depends on the size of your group.

    Spiti has a majestic beauty of its own—craggy rocks and towering mountains all around. The landscape is bleached white and grey with centuries of extreme weather, but the patches of green oases and sparkling water bodies offer captivating contrasts and make for some wonderful photography opportunities.

    Your road trip begins and ends in Shimla, and takes you through winding roads and spectacular landscapes. You'll be comfortably seated in a non-A/C Toyota Innova shared by 6 people, and will enjoy an exciting ride for 7 days. You'll stay in quaint hotels and homestays with local families, absorbing the unique culture of Spiti Valley.

    Consumption of alcohol or drugs is not permitted on this road trip.

    Travellers are requested to treat the local culture with respect and avoid littering, defacing property and monuments and causing any general disturbance.

    Cancellation policy

    If a cancellation is made 30 days or more before departure of Spiti Valley road trip: 90% of the trip cost will be refunded.

    If a cancellation is made 15-29 days before departure of Spiti Valley road trip: 70% of the trip cost will be refunded.

    If a cancellation is made 8-14 days before departure of Spiti Valley road trip: 35% of the trip cost will be refunded.

    If a cancellation is made 0-7 days before departure of Spiti Valley road trip: No refund.

    All refunds will be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    If the Spiti Valley road trip is changed due to any medical emergency, bad weather, vehicle breakdown, any natural calamity or any other personal reason, the extra charges arising out of such conditions will be borne by the traveller.

    Any services not utilized during the tour is not liable for any kind of refund from the tour price.

    The trip cost does not include any medical insurance or insurance of any kind, government permits, entry charges to monasteries, transfers not included in the itinerary or any personal expenses.

  • Day 1 of Spiti Valley road trip: Shimla to Kalpa

    Your road trip starts with your pick-up from Shimla. Driving through Narkanda, you'll advance towards the town dotted with apple orchards: Kalpa. You'll be driving over the winding roads surrounded by pine forest. Enjoy the views of Kinner Kailash and Jordan Peaks. On the way, you'll visit a temple at Kothi to see the image goddess Chanadika enshrined in the temple. Overnight at a hotel in Kalpa.

    Day 2 of Spiti Valley road trip: Kalpa-Nako-Tabo

    Today, you will continue driving on the Hindustan-Tibet highway and watch the landscape transforming from lush mountains to many hues of barren, brown mountains. Enter Spiti from the last hamlet of Kinnaur valley: Nako. Drive through Sumdo and reach Tabo, your first stop in the mystical Spiti Valley. Tabo is famous for the picturesque 1000-year-old Tabo Monastery, one of the UNESCO's world heritage site. Overnight at a hotel or a homestay in Tabo.

    Day 3 of Spiti Valley road trip: Tabo-Dhankar-Lhalung

    Start journeying towards Dhankar, the village offering a panoramic view of the confluence of Spiti and Pin River. Embark on a 45-min trek to the turquoise colored Dhankar Lake. After the trek, continue advancing towards Lhalung. Lhalung is renowned for the three-cornered Buddha statue inside the ancient Lhalung monastery. If time permits, ride atop a Yak and learn to cook momos from then locals.

    Day 4 of Spiti Valley road trip: Kaza tour day 1

    Head towards the gorgeous Pin Valley, the national park home to 12 endangered species of snow leopards and variety of exotic birds such as pika, griffon, golden eagle, bearded vulture and raven. Visit the old Kungri Monastery and the beautiful hamlet of Mudh. After the day of sightseeing, you'll be driven back to the hotel in Kaza in evening.

    Day 5 of Spiti Valley road trip: Kaza tour day 2

    You will visit some of the highest inhabited regions in the world today. You'll set foot on Komic village, the highest village (15,027 feet) with motorable roads in the world. Later, stop by the world's highest post office in Hikkim. You'll visit Key Gompa, the biggest monastery in Spiti Valley, and the villages of Kibber and Langza. From Kibber, you'll drive up to the secluded village of Gette and enjoy the bird's-eye view of Kaza. Drive back to Kaza in the evening to spend the night at the same hotel in Kaza.

    Day 6 of Spiti Valley road trip: Kaza to Kalpa

    The road trip to Spiti valley is about to end soon. You'll retrace your route to Kalpa via the Hindustan-Tibet highway. Overnight at a hotel in Kalpa.

    Day 7 of Spiti Valley road trip: Kalpa to Shimla

    Drive back to Shimla, a gorgeous blend of hill town and holiday resort. You can go shopping in the quaint streets of Shimla and visit a few tourist destinations. Your road trip ends here. You may head back to your home city today.
