  • Trip introduction

    Embark on this trek to Stok Kangri, and summit the highest peak of the Stok Mountain ranges. This 9-day trek is not easy, hence it is best suited for experienced trekkers. On this trek, you'll trek through thick snow, over sprawling glaciers, and high altitude ridges to reach the peak. You'll also cross some clear water streams, and spend the night in tents pitched at high altitudes. This trekking trip to the Stok Kangri is for those who seek adventure, thrill, and aim to summit the highest peaks of the world.

    Destination

    The Stok Kangri is the highest peak in the Stok mountain range, located in the Hemis National Park. It pierces the sky at an altitude of 20197 feet, which is higher than the tallest mountains of both Europe and Africa - Mt. Elbrus and Mt. Kilimanjaro! The route of this trek takes you through quite a dynamic landscape, from lush green forests to the barren mountains of Stok range. From the peak, you'll be treated to the magnificent view of the little town of Leh, Pir Panjal mountain ranges, and Kailash Mansarowar Lake. And if you're lucky, you might even spot the mighty K2!

    Rules on the trip

    Participants must adhere to the instructions of the team leader during the Stok Kangri trek.

    Smoking, consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs etc. is strictly prohibited while on the trek.

    For onward bookings from Leh after the Stok Kangri trek, please keep a day or two extra, in case of delays.

    Cancellation policy

    For cancellations made more than 30 days prior to the departure of the trek to Stok Kangri: 95% refund.

    For cancellations made 15-30 days prior to the departure of the trek to Stok Kangri: 50% refund.

    For cancellations made less than 15 days prior to the departure of the trek to Stok Kangri: No refund.

    In case of no show: No refund.

    All refunds wil be processed after deducting a transaction fee of INR 200 per person. This fee is charged by The Great Next.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The operator reserves the right to change the itinerary of the Stok Kangri trek depending upon the weather conditions and other factors. If extra cost is incurred due to rescheduling, it will be borne by the trekker.

    All the arrangements for the Stok Kangri trek are pre-planned and prepaid. In case of non completion of the Stok Kangri trek due to any reason whatsoever there will not be any refund for any unutilized services. Any extra expense due any alteration has to be paid extra.

  • Day 1 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Arrive in Leh

    Today, you'll arrive in Leh and check in at the hotel, where you will meet your fellow trekkers and the trek leader. You can spend the evening exploring the colourful markets of Leh.

    Day 2 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Acclimatization

    Today is an acclimatization day. You'll spend the day exploring the cultural and natural beauty of Leh. You can spend the evening making last-minute preparations for the trek. Overnight in hotel in Leh.

    Day 3 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Drive to Stok Village, Trek to Chang Ma

    Today, you'll begin the day with a short drive to Stok Village, which is the start point of the trek. From there, you'll begin your trek to Chang Ma. The trek might be difficult as you will still be getting used to the altitude. Overnight in tents at Chang Ma.

    Day 4 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Trek to Mankorma

    Today, you'll trek to Mankorma. It is a fairly easy trek along a river, and the real beauty of Ladakhi landscape will start showing today. Overnight in tents at Mankorma.

    Dat 5 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Trek to Base Camp

    Today, you'll trek to the base camp of the Stok Kangri peak. En route, you'll be treated to the gorgeous sights of the Gulap Kangri, Parcha Kangri, and many other mighty peaks. Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Day 6 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Acclimatization

    Today, you'll spend the day acclimatizing and practicing for the summit trek. You'll receive basic training about using technical equipment like ice axe, crampons, rope, etc. You'll go to bed quite early, as the summit trek begins some time after midnight. Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Day 7 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Summit Stok Kangri

    Today is the summit day! Today, you'll be woken up at 00:30 hrs, and you'll begin your trek to the Stok Kangri by 02:00 hrs. It is a long trek which will challenge your trekking skills as well as stamina. Youll be treated to the breathtaking view that spans towards the horizons once you reach the peak. You'll then trek back to the base camp. Overnight in tents at the base camp.

    Day 8 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Trek back to Stok Village, Drive to Leh

    Today, you'll begin to retrace your steps back to Stok Village. The trek can be difficult, so caution is advised. From Stok Village, you'll begin your drive to Leh. You'll reach there by evening. Overnight in hotel in Leh.

    Day 9 of the Stok Kangri Trek: Depart from Leh

    Today is the last day of the trip. You'll check out of the hotel by 10:00 hrs. Your trip ends here.
