  • Trip introduction

    This 4-day trek through some of the most breathtaking parts of the Indian Himalayas will lead you to the enchanting meadows of Chopta. You will begin your journey with an uphill trek to Tungnath, site of the world's highest temple of Lord Shiva. Through dense forests of pine trees and rhododendron flowers, continue trekking up to an altitude of 13,100 ft to scale the Chandrashila mountain peak. With lofty, snow-capped mountains on the horizon, you will also trek to the Deoriatal Lake, known for its wide 300° panorama view of the Himalayan mountains. On the banks of the Deoriatal Lake, spend a restful night camping under the twinkling Himalayan sky.

    On this 4-day adventure, you will trek for 2 days on relatively easy terrain, making this trip perfect for beginners as well as experienced trekkers.

    Destination

    Tucked away in the deep alcoves of the Indian Himalayas, Chopta is a tiny patch of pristine untouched meadow. Located inside the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, Chopta is often nicknamed as the Switzerland of India due to its snow-capped mountains covered with evergreen forests. Starting from Chopta, you will embark on a spectacular route that will take you to the top of Chandrashila mountain peak, a summit of 13,100 ft. You will continue trekking to visit the Deoriatal Lake, a Himalayan lake filled with crystal clear waters and still reflections of towering mountains.

    Rules on the trip

    Travellers are required to adhere to the instructions of the trip leader/tour guide during the trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal.

    Consumption of alcohol and narcotics is strictly prohibited during or before the trek.

    Cancellation policy

    Cancellations made more than 24 days before departure of the trek: 95% refund.

    Cancellations made between 13 to 24 days before departure of the trek: 70% refund.

    Cancellations made between 14 to 8 days before departure of the trek: 50% refund.

    Cancellations made less than 8 days before departure of the trek: No refund.

    No show: No refund.

    Any refunds will be processed after deducting any transaction charges.

    Additional instructions, booking policies, terms and conditions

    The tour operator takes utmost care to ensure safety of the travellers and shall not be held responsible for any mishap, accident or loss of life during the trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal.

  • Day 1 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Haridwar to Chopta

    Reach Haridwar Railway Station by early morning and board private, shared vehicles to Chopta. The drive will cover more than 200 kms and will drop you to the campsite at Chopta by late afternoon. On arrival at Chopta, spend the evening at leisure. Explore the campsite and the surrounding area. Sip some hot tea and spend some time getting to know the rest of your group. Overnight at Chopta in tents.

    Day 2 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Day trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila

    Begin your trekking expedition by climbing uphill to visit Tungnath, site of the world's highest temple of Lord Shiva. From Tungnath, continue trekking onward to the Chandrashila mountain summit. Spend some time at the top admiring the breathtaking views of the Nandadevi, Trihsul and Bandarpoonch mountain peaks. After having a packed lunch at Chandrashila, make you way down and trek back to the campsite at Chopta. Overnight at Chopta in tents.

    Day 3 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Chopta to Deoriatal

    After breakfast, embark on a 2-hr drive to Sari village. From here, you will continue on foot and trek to today's destination of Deoriatal. The route takes a gradual ascent for 3 hours as you trek through thick forest and lush grasslands. Once you reach Deoriatal, spend some time at the campsite admiring the heavily forested, snow-capped mountain peaks in the distance. Before nightfall, take some time to explore the campsite and the Deoriatal Lake. Overnight at Deoriatal in tents.

    Day 4 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Deoriatal to Haridwar

    Post breakfast, board vehicles that will take you back to Haridwar via Sari village. You will reach Haridwar by evening. Your trip ends here.

    You will be accommodated in alpine tents pitched at the campsite in Chopta on a triple sharing basis. The campsite is equipped with common kitchen/dining and toilet tents. Today's meal package includes dinner upon arrival at the campsite. You may spend extra to have breakfast and lunch en route from Haridwar.

    Day 2 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Day trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila

    Overnight at Chopta in tents.

    You will be accommodated in alpine tents pitched at the campsite in Chopta on a triple sharing basis. Clean sleeping bags and mattresses will be provided to ensure a comfortable night's sleep. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, evening tea/snacks and dinner.

    Day 3 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Chopta to Deoriatal

    Overnight at Deoriatal in tents.

    You will be accommodated in alpine tents pitched on the banks of Deoriatal on a triple sharing basis. Today's meal package includes breakfast, lunch, evening tea/snacks and dinner.

    Day 4 of Trek to Chopta, Chandrashila and Deoriatal: Deoriatal to Haridwar

    Your trip ends before nightfall.

    Today's meal package includes breakfast before departure from the campsite. You may spend extra to have lunch or dinner en route to Haridwar.
